What initially sparked your interest in accounting, and how did you start your career?
I was always good at maths at school and wanted to do something involving numbers but wasn’t sure what. After completing my A-levels, an opportunity arose at a small local accountancy firm, and I’ve been working in accounts ever since.
What's the most common misconception about accountants?
That accountants are boring. Although I am, others in the office lead more exciting lives!
What do you find most rewarding about working in accounting?
I think helping clients is the most rewarding part of the job. It may be something as simple as calculating holiday entitlement or more complex tax/remuneration planning.
What area of Norwich/Norfolk do you enjoy the most?
Living in Suffolk, I think the best part of Norfolk is the road heading back into Suffolk!
In your opinion, what sets Perk apart from others in the industry?
I think Perk is more friendly and approachable than others in the industry. We do not charge for every bit of advice or phone call from clients, which helps build strong relationships.
How do you unwind after a busy day at the office?
Taking the dogs for a walk, building Lego, and playing on the Xbox.
